First images of Outcast II. - Nuelan
|
Tuesday 29 of May 2001 - [0.44 a.m.]
|
We just received the first exclusive images of Outcast II. Many
thanks to Tigrab who sent them to us.
We prefer to provide them to you 'in the rough' without any
comments so that you can discuss it freely on the forum.
For the moment those are just images concerning the game. Indeed
the programmers at Appeal don't want screenshots to be shown
before work is more advanced.

Small nonuseless return to Outcast. - Nuelan
|
Wednesday 25 of April 2001 - [10.17 p.m.]
|
Hi folks!
Because many among you still have some problems to install Outcast - this in spite of the different patches - here is an infallible method. It is due to Jean-Jean and JC, two members of the Outcast
forum at Infogrames
France. It has already proved its reliability, but is
apparently little known.
To install Outcast, it is necessary to
create a file in the directory where one wishes to install the
game. This file must be named 'uninst.isu', be empty (0kB) and be
in read only mode. For those among you who would not know how to
create this file, please feel free download this little patch
(Outcast_patch_install.exe - written by bestmew - 275kB ) which will take care of it for you. Then it is enough to normally
install the game while specifying of course as the installation
directory the one where the file 'uninst.isu' is located. During
the installation process a window will pop-up to prevent that you
will not be able to uninstall the game: disregard it. The game
will install without problem. Later on, to uninstall the game,
remove the file 'uninst.isu' and start again the installation: it
will do the job.

Mixed news - Nuelan
|
Tuesday 17th of April 2001 - [3.34 p.m.]
|
Hi everybody. Here are some mixed news They come from a recent mail with Franck Sauer.
- For the moment Outcast II run on GeForce and Radeon. There is no evidence that it will be optimized for GeForce3.
- no MOD facilities
- no multiplayer
- nothing will be shown at E3 contrary to what was announced.
I quote Franck: 'Among many good reasons: Infogrames wish to favour
the products which will be released this year; The development is
not yet sufficiently advanced to give the feeling of what the game
will looks like. This could harm its brand image, especially for
the consumers of the game consoles community.'
I told you: it will be necessary to muster one's patience!

You may have noticed that out IRC channel did not work anymore since some time. This was due to attacks perpetrated against Undernet servers.
In order to offer you again this service, we moved to Urbanet.

Two new interviews of Appeal - Jfrey
|
Wednesday 28th of February 2001- [9.30 p.m.]
|
OK, we continue to thrash about and therefore here are interviews
of Michaël Defroyennes (in charge of the creation and the animation of some characters of Outcast 2) and Philippe Zondack (in charge of the tools and the technological part of Outcast 2).
One learns there among other things that Outcast 2 will take into
account the day/night cycle as well as weather forecast. Some
details reveal that the 3D graphic engine will be indeed up to it
(i.e. the face of animals is enlivened entirely).
Good reading

A while ago, Franck Sauer told us that Yves Grolet left Appeal in July 2000 and proposed Carlo Fabricatore to become
the leader of an all new design team. To tell you a bit more about Carlo and his new team, we asked him if he would accept to answer to an interview,
what he made very gladly.
You can read it here.
Thanks Carlo.

PS2 or PC? - Nuelan
|
Monday 16th of October 2000- [5.30 p.m.]
|
Following the chat with
Appeal in November 1999, a question remained concerning the
development of Outcast2 : Would it be developed for console
or for PC?
Here are some elements you can react to and brought recently
by Franck Sauer, co-founder and Art director of Appeal:
This is still a non official information
(it's not under contract yet) and is likely to be modified. To date, the PS2 version is planned to be released end
of April 2002 and the PC version will come after. This means that
although we endeavour to keep the maximum common code between the two versions
we will favorise for the moment the code specific to the PS2 rather than
the PC one. As soon as the game will be released on the PS2, we will carry
out the modifications specific to the PC and this version will have
a different release date (maybe with the Xbox version)
probably in September 2002.

Welcome message- Nuelan
|
Friday 13th of October 2000- [2 p.m.]
|
Welcome on outcastii.net website
To be honest with you, as Outcast 2 is scheduled
for the 2002 E3 show, you will not learn anything new about it before a long time...
Nevertheless, we wanted to start to create this site and to submit it
to the general criticism now because first we were very impatient to start
and
secondly, other people experience showed us that it was better to proceed
to a long trial period.
The site is in "alpha test" period and is constructed around Outcast 1
for this purpose.
But don't worry. As the release date will be closer, we will have more
exclusive and exciting news to share. Then Outcast2 will take over
the place it deserves.
So come back often and don't hesitate to give us your feelings.
For this purpose, we have created a forum
and an IRC channel. The forum doesn't pretend to replace the US Infogrames forum.
It is here to complement it and to give the opportunity to those who wish to talk
specifically on Outcast2 or on outcastii.net in complete freedom.
We hope that you will appreciate the initiative.
