One of the reasons I liked Outcast was its relative internal consistency, both in concept of a world, story and characters. (Well, except maybe those mysterious self-propelled boulders in Motazaar valley, that really made no sense).
However, the thing that bugs me most are...Talan's hands. They have long, flexible fingers, but there are only two of them! That should seriously impede their ability to build civilization that advanced. I made this conclusion after reading some anthropology book, which explained the importance of thumb for human ancestors' evolution. Thumb's length and position (opposite to other 4 fingers) made it possible to operate more sophisticated tools accurately and grab objects firmly.
It seems for me that Talans don't have anything like thumb to help them get a grip on small objects, neither to use them accurately. With just two fingers they probably wouldn't evolve from using sticks and stones
