problem getting oc running

Hi, I have some problems getting the game started. After patching the game, I get it installed, but after that I don’t get any further. When I load the game, it doesn’t find any text in the start up menu ( I’m using directX 8.1). When I choose new game it loads for a while, runs the infogram -video, the appeal - video and then drops out to windows again.

I don’t get it, what’s the problem? Hope anyone can help me.

What are the specs of your computer? There's quite a few known problems with different bits of hardware.

Are you using the legal (retail) version without any hacks or cracks?

The game is strictly legal.
I use a 200 MMX, 64 MB RAM, windows 98 SE and a 16 MB TNT Riva card (I understand there has been some problems with TNT cards).

Try to move the game files in a unique directory i.e. /outcast/oc
