Which patch did you run (the last is for the dvd version) ?
Did you try without it, what happens if so ?

Sorry for the imprecise info in my first post.

1. I haven`t tried to run the game without a patch. I immediately installed the 12 MB patch number 3, (not the dvd patch). When trying to run the game, my dvd rom just spins, nothing else happens.

2. I have tried to run the game with the following:
- Outcast.EXE (353 KB) - Corrects the CD insertion problem. Dvd rom just spins.
- All of the Outcast loaders. The same happens, although loader2 states "wrong disc inserted".
- Tried also to run the game with the loader making Outcast playable in 640x480. Dvd rom just spins.

Very thankful for tips.

Here is an infallible method to install Outcast. [^]

To install Outcast, it is necessary to create a file in the directory where one wishes to install the game. This file must be named 'uninst.isu', be empty (0kB) and be in read only mode. For those among you who would not know how to create this file, please feel free download this little patch which will take care of it for you. Then it is enough to normally install the game while specifying of course as the installation directory the one where the file 'uninst.isu' is located. During the installation process a window will pop-up to prevent that you will not be able to uninstall the game: disregard it. The game will install without problem. Later on, to uninstall the game, remove the file 'uninst.isu' and start again the installation: it will do the job.

This is a copy and paste FAQ Outcastii.net, because my English is not good... and gnagnagna gnagnagna... yes I know [:P3]

[Edit] Sorry, I forgot to say that, YES, Outcast is playable with XP. [:)]

At last! That one solved my problem too, which I've been stuck with for over a year. Maybe now I can begin playing this thing.

Having Outcast and not playing it for a year?!
I'd be crazy after that long... [confused2] [hu]
