Hi again,

does somebody know of a way to increase the view distance even higher than it was intented? I mean some tweaking of .ini files, patches etc.

By view distance I mean the distance of the fog which makes the landscape disappear. It would be cool if you could look even farther than the max. level you can set in the config dialog.
The graphics look still nice, even today, but you know, I really like when you can look very far in a game.

There must be a way. I'd just go through the ini. file line by line looking for it.
Good luck. [moder]

In DOC_high.ini and DOC_low.ini there are some parameters how are for example called "temples_world_view_dist" or "temples_world_far_view_dist".
I set them to values 2x or even 10x higher, but they don't cahnge how far you can see, it just effects the bluuring and clipping of some polygons (for example some parts of the houses were not shown from certain perspectives).
Otherwise I couldn't find anything in the .ini files, which could be interpreted as a parameter to increase the view distance.
I guess it must be in the binaries...

Anybody who knows something more?

Hi there,

The appearance of the fog is controlled by the variable *_ fog_density (where * = temples, marches, montagne etc...) of the DOC_#.ini files (where # = high or low according to the config).

I put below two screens taken with two different fog_density values. The first with the standard value of 7 and the second with 15...

Thx, that helps to increase the the sight at least a bit.
But the problem still remains: The rendering of the voxels stops at a relatively low distance. Beyond, you see nothing. So it's for example not possible to look from the village to the temple Fae, even if he's not really far way.

The only parameter which I found to affect the view distance is "lnd_base_layers" but you can only set it to 0 (high) and 1 (low). Only the first character is read, so 0.5 will be 0, -1 or 2 will cause the game to crash.
So this parameter just toggles betwen the (very) low and the (not so) high view distance.
