I haven't really been able to find any information or experience with the 640x480 patch. I understand that it can increase instability, but I'm curious about anyone's experience running in high res mode.

I started another thread regarding installation problems with Windows 2000, and although patch number three solved my problem, I still cannot change any of the settings other than volume or balance using the options screen. For some reason the little buttons that ring round the option menu are unresponsive except for volume and balance.

The new mod using the Gothic engine looks interesting, and I'm wondering if anybody knows how that is going. It is amazing to me that Outcast Two was canceled, because this is truly an extraordinary game unlike any other that I have played. Outcast really is a work of art.

Thanks,

Taichi

the 640x patch makes the gamel a bit heavy for my crappy amd 1200 mhz(especially in talanzar) but is not istable in my experience. it has some bugs - subtitles dont fit the frame etc, but i think it is cool as long es you have the machine to handle it [up]

An AMD 1200mhz. isn't crappy. It's just not top of the line. The computer world moves too fast. Don't upgrade for a year, and you get left in the dust. [moder] When I had Windows 2000 installed on my PC, everything was fine. I just installed it by using Windows Explorer and finding the setup file. Then, I installed it with Compatibility Mode. Here's how to use it:

1. Make a shortcut for Outcast (or the setup).
2. Right click on it and go to Properties.
3. Click on Compatibility Mode.
4. There are several kinds. First try Windows 95.
5. Click Apply
6. Try to start using the shortcut. If it doesn't work, try
step 4 with other Compatibility Modes, like Windows 98.

Compatibility Mode doesn't always work, but it's worth a try.
Hope I helped. [cheer]
