Recently I installed Outcast (with the latest patch of course) on my PC. The last time I installed and played it was last year, but for some reason, I can no longer get it running on my PC. On Win XP the games loader comes up, but when I attempt to run a game the loader crashes. On Win 98 I just get a black screen and a total system freeze. I've tried all kinds of weird and whacky things, and it STILL doesn't work. Considering I would reeeeally like to play this awesome game again, I'm getting kinda desperate.

My system;
Duron 800
512 SD RAM
40 gig HDD
3.2 gig HDD
GeForce 4 64 meg 440 MX
Sound Blaster Live!

I just reinstalled it then, now when ever I try to load the loader, I get an error message saying "Unable to load function: FT_Thunk (KERNEL32.DLL)

Hmmm.

Welcome to the forum. [:)] I never owned Windows 98, but with XP if something doesn't work right you can try compatibility mode. I'll post some instructions.

1. Make a shortcut for Outcast.
2. Right click on it and go to Properties.
3. Click on Compatibility Mode.
4. There are several kinds. First try Windows 95.
5. Click Apply
6. Try to start using the shortcut. If it doesn't work, try
step 4 with other Compatibility Modes, like Windows 98.

You can also do this with the setup, by making a shortcut to it
installing it like that. Even if you do get XP to work with it, there are some problems. In mine, I can't ride Twon-Has. That's all I can really recommend.
Hope this helps. [cheer]
