I have been thinking about how to revive Appeal. You all know they got bankrupt, becouse Infogrames stopped supporting them with money. I have been thinking. If we somehow could contact Microsoft and make them support Appeal with money to make Outcast 2 for the Xbox instead of the PS2. It would come out to the PC too. I know Microsoft buyed a lot of game companies and if the see how good the first Outcast game was they may be interested to have the sequel to the Xbox?.. Its the only thing I can think of.. Appeal need a second chance..

Well, the great thing about Outcast was that it was obviously not made for the "big mamoo" ( $$$ ) ...
If a company like M$ or other get involved in the sequel it WILL be for money, nothing more ...
I'm afraid that "indies" are definitely out of the game business ...
Personnaly, I don't want to play OC2 just because it's called "OC2" or have something related to Outcast on the "plastic box" ...
But thx for the proposal ... Come with other ideas, we'll go further that way ... [;)]

Microsoft seems to let there developers quiet free in how to make there games. And also because they really need some good games to get some more XBox consoles sold I don't think they would make OC2 some B-game. So I wouldn't be to soon with your conclusions of Microsoft games (look at Halo 2 for example or they upcoming Rare title, or Fable and B.C. all really good looking games financed by Microsoft).

But we should be realistic, Microsoft isn't going to invest tons (or maybe millions) in OC2 just because some fans mailed them and I don't believe they don't know of OC2 (in the beginning of they XBox there were some rumors that OC2 was coming to Microsoft XBox) so if they really wanted OC2 they probably had already invested in Appeal and/or OC2.

I think our only hope is that OC2 to is picked by an other Developer (maybe Microsoft [:p] ) like Chips and Bits claimes altrough they sliped their realease date of OC2 to December of this year.

I mailed Bill Brilmayer of Chips and Bits lats month to see if he could already tell me some more about the rumor that OC2 is picked up by an other Developer and this was his reaction:

"I don't have any more information other than it is due out in December. Sorry."

I also mailed Yves Grolet a while ago to see how Symbiosis (former Project Alpha) was doing but his reactions was disappointing

"Thanks for your interest in our company.

Unfortunately, it’s too soon to tell you anything about Project Alpha. What I can only tell you is that it’s completely different from Outcast."

So I don't think Symbiosis will be OC2 with an other name like everyone hopes for (but that doen't mean it won't be a great game of course)

We gotta be realistic here, even though Outcast was an absolute masterpiece, it wasn't fully recognized. It's just like the game Starsiege. It wasn't so popular, so the company dropped it. Then a few people took matters into there own hands and are now making Starsiege II. Outcast has a few very loyal group of fans like us, but it's just not enough to make a difference. I'd love to make a mod of Unreal 2003 and turn it into Outcast II, but I have neither the skills nor money to succeed. Xerxes is right. Our only hope is if another company picks it up, or someone makes a total conversion mod. By the way if your intrested in Starsiege II, check out www.mechnex.net

Well, i think you are right in these questions, i don't think symbiosis'll be OC 2, a've aldo wirtten to grolet bou he didn't answer me.
Talking about the Micorsoft, i think they only'd but OC rights if they see that there are very much possibilities to be best-seller. I think it'd be, just because there are a lot of fans of OC, and if it is a good game (I got impressed with the screenshots), i'm sure it'll sell well.
The think I hate most is that I read the kronos project and I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!!!!!!!
Well, surely in the future a clever company will show un that

3DO went bankrupt a short time ago and they are selling there licenses and lots of company's (Microsoft, Namco, EIDOS, JoWood, Turbine, Ubi Soft and Crave ) are interested (even in the Army Man license [eek] ) so if you look at that it seems impossible to believe that there isn't a single company who's interested in the Outcast license and has the capabilities to buy it. [?]

Isn't there anyone here in this forum who can contact someone who worked for Appeal (Franck Sauer or Yann Robert or someone) and ask him about what is done with the Outcast license????

You've got a point there, Xerxes. Seems like the companies are running out of ideas, and will take any rights. This would be the perfect opprotunity for Outcast II. We should try and contact a few companies, and see if they would buy the rights of The Outcast Universe. About the former Appeal worker question. I have no idea how to get in contact with them. I'll try and search for them on the net.

I just say that we have to wait for it. How many times have we heard about games that were cancelled and are released after few years? Soon, a company will find out how good OC is, and in few years (maybe less, OC2 is Half-developed) we'll be playing our OC2 [loll]
