Anyone hear anything about Outcast 2's development being put on hiatus? Cancellation's not far away for projects like these. This sucks! I was a big fan of Outcast 1 and was really looking forward to the sequel. According to the editor of www.adventuregamers.com, who I think is pretty reliable, in the Adventure games forum, he posted of the news, "Because of new development opportunities, we are sorry to inform you that the development of Outcast 2 has been momentarily suspended." The link to this announcement is : http://www.adventuregamers.com/forums....id=2109

to translate it:

First we want to apologize for this situation. Sometimes, these things occur. However, we can say not very much about it, but remember:
1. Outcast is not adjusted or, it only shifted up to an indefinite period
2. the platform was not modified (it shall remain on the PC PS2)
3. this however in any case Auswrikungen on release date will have. with best desires, Appeal

point 3 is a bit messed up (my german ain't that good :)

dominion: if I wasn't supposed to translate it, pls let me know
I'll del the post immediatly

Well i believe i speak for us all when i say: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But well, lets see Outcast 2 had should come out for PC and PS2, it is a #### great amazing looking action game with a lot of fans i guess. Lets think a moment what do we miss? one word: X-Box. I nearly will bet that M has his hands in that, first i mean what i have seen in the past months M does everything to get all action games in their hands for their console, even Loose Cannion which they canceled before as they took over Digital Anvil. Second they have enough money to buy Outcast 2, third it is a #### great game and it looks amazing, just say Halo.
I know you guys maybe think now that is dumb and i am a fool that think M is the most evil, i would maybe also think like that, if M had not took over Digital Anvil, fired Chris Roberts, canceled Loose Cannion and Conquest, because they only wanted that company because of Freelancer, took over Bungie, canceled Oni because they just wanted Halo, and made that Halo came only out for X-Box, not sure but last i heard it is still unknown if Halo comes for PC or not, and that M now tries to buy Loose Cannion so it comes only out for the X-Box and some other things. Since that i know that not even god knows what M makes and that everything is possible. How is it called "money rules the world" :)

Oh #### now my post got longer as i wanted, just wanted to say no :) well lets see what the future has for us :)

Best Regards
*goes of and prays that Outcast 2 will come out*

PS.: sorry for any english mistakes

heheh, perhapse Microsoft is not the only force in the universe? [;)]

Now lets look whats in Outcast2 homepage:

"Because of new development opportunities, we are sorry to inform you that the development of Outcast 2 has been momentarily suspended."

Note momentarily and development opportunities. Now since there's momantarily, i think that means that Appeal has something better to do for a while than outcast?? Which, ofcourse, sounds really weird!!

Well anyway, it that is true what could it be? Chayton Warrior's post gave me new ideas.. Perhapse appeal is taking a shot lecture called "How to import Outcast to X-box?" [;)]

Well, anyhow I shal hope that this is just a short delay rather than outcast cansellation.

Hey, maybe Appeal just run out of new artworks and was forced to make up some shoking news. [:D]

Microsoft is just trying to buy the XBox to the top. I don't think thats the way to do it and win the console war, but it is smart of Microsoft. While everybodý copies games much developers get into trouble. And so there isn't a single developer that says no to the money of Microsoft. I have no problems that OC2 is also goming to the XBox (altough I think the GameCube is better) but I would have a problem with OC2 being exclusive on the X-Box. So lets just hope that Appeal says no against OC2 exclusive for the X-Box. [x]

In the email, appeal explains there are some new technologies they want to try out and maybe use in OC2...
I THINK that's what they mean with "new development opportunities" [;)]

possibly, but why do they announce that as momentarely suspended, in stead of just saying the release date has been moved?
Anyways, i'm keepin my fingers crossed - i dont really care how long it'll take em (gives me more time to get a decent computer too [;)] ), but i'd hate to see the sequel of my all time favourite game be canceled [ouin] ...

IMHO, the Xbox is a great machine. I have the PS2, Dreamcast, and the Xbox, and I have to say that the Xbox is the best of them all. I plan on buying a Gamecube later, but I haven't seen many great games out for it yet. As for Xbox, they've got some amazing titles coming up which I can't wait to get. I love my PS2 as well, but the Xbox is better. I really doubt that Outcast 2 is being made for the Xbox though, but I hope that's the reason why they suspended it. I can deal with it not being released early, but I just hope it's released eventually. Too many products get cancelled while on hiatus. that's the only reason I was upset. Hopefully, the reason for delay isn't because they're having problems with the development or that they're shifting their resources to other projects.

I really don't understand where these things about a Microsoft plot come from ...
How Microsoft could be part of the decision of Appeal to temporarily suspend the development of the game ?
Can anyone be more precise ?
