About the "Taun -Taun" like animal. I bought it. I can climb on it. I can turn and jump but I can't make it walk or run! The first time I played this wasn't an issue, I just pushed the arrows and jepeeeeeeee!
Did I bought it too fast? Is there someone I should talk first before purchasing it? Is it my cordless keyboard?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

really strange...you can only jump while moving.otherwise the icon changes to "get off" the tuan-tuan (hahahaha [;)] ). cant understand how you are able to jump........
anyway - maybe the tuan-tuan [;)] is jsut stuck...try taking your gui out. Mr. tuan-tuan [;)] should follow you. bring it to another place and try riding it again.

crossing those big maps take way too long without a tuan-tuan [;)]

Thanks, but it's not stuck. On my previous computer I was an expert rider [8D]. I did a forum search and many others had the same problem...but...oh God, no solution! Help! My OUTCAST computer is only a pentium III 1 gigahertz so don't tell me it's too powerful.

I tried to unleash patch 3 on it but this is what happened.

Patch won't work on illegal version, if version is original reinstall it, please.

Not sure if that's what I want to do.

But I think that's what you have to do. But it's no problem, just backup your savegames.

Patch 3 has to be applied BEFORE installing anyway, as it replaces the original install routine.
So uninstall, maybe clean out the registry by hand, restart and directly run the third patch. It will prompt you for the CD and reinstall the game automatically.

But I don't know if this is gonna solve your problem...

OK, I uninstalled Outcast. Loaded patch 3. Reinstalled Outcast. Saw the intro movie. Insert CD 2. I did. Then: WRONG CD INSERTED!!!

This is not working. Gremlins are at work here, I'm sure.

Sorry, but I can't solve the problem you have right now. I was thinking, though, all my computers that had OC installed on them, and the Twan-Ha couldn't run on any. This is because Windows XP is installed on them. Are you running XP? Compatibility issues might be the problem. [eek]

No, I'm running Windows 98 SE.

Also, I noticed when scrolling items in the backbag with the arrows, it's all going too fast. It's difficult to pick a choice because you're easily running right over it.

Not that this is my plan but can you complete the game without the twan-ha?

Even if you do get XP to work with it, there are some problems. In mine, I can't ride Twon-Has.

Did you finished it without the twon-ha, Jub Jub?
The Twon-ha is what almost makes the game. I don't feel like playing it again without it.

Twon-has are one of my favourite featuters in oc as well.
this sucks [xx(]

never had the problem, but it seems to be a common issue.
btw what resolution are playing at?
on a german board some said that changing the resolution solved the problem. he however, had a couple of problems(including the one with twan-has), so i am not sure what he was talking about. anyway try it out.

@Alex-I got about half-way through with the game and then decided it wasn't worth it. If I ever want to play Outcast, I just use my PC with Win. 98 on it. [cheer]

Hi, pals. I'm new here.
What a pity I didn't encounter that wonderful site the last time I played Outcast.

I had the same problem. I failed to find a solution, so just walked everywhere by feet.

I didn't install any patches though.

I have the same problem and managed to solve it:

Go to http://www.oldskool.org/pc/throttle and download winthrottle, a free program that slows down your CPU. Start the program, modify the slider to throttle 50-75% of your CPU and then minimize it. While it is minimized, your CPU speed will be reduced. All you need to do now is to run the game while winthrottle is minimized and you will be able to run with your twan-ha.
This program also enabled me to run other old games on my 2Ghz AMD processor, like Blood Omen 1.
